Mobilink’s Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 Hands-On Preview

Mobilink Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1

We just have got our quick hands on Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 which recently was launched by Mobilink in Pakistan. Mobilink previously launched 7 inch Samsung Galaxy Tab which was priced at 59,000 Pakistani Rupees but new Tab 10.1 is priced at 56,999/-. Well the price factor mostly depends on the current market situation and competitor prices. It may be the reason that Mobilink launched a newer Tab with lower price value.

Anyways we got this new Galaxy Tab 10.1 and played with it for a very short time of period. Following are the pictures and description of the components along with it. We also put it besides the 7″ Galaxy Tab. Just take a preview of the Tab below.

Let’s put the new Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 together with the Galaxy Tab 7 side by side. It’s pretty obvious that both of the tabs serve for different type of conditions. In fact previously the Galaxy Tab 7 was capable of GSM Voice communication which is not available in Galaxy Tab 10.1.

Size and the volume consumption of both Tabs are well different. Galaxy Tab 10.1 is almost 30% bigger in size but it’s the thinnest tablet in the world measuring as 8.6mm which is 0.2mm thinner than the iPad 2 that is 8.8mm. But wait! Galaxy Tab 10.1 is also no more the thinnest tablet as Toshiba has announced Toshiba’s AT200 is as thinner as 7.7mm.

Well here in Pakistan, Galaxy Tab 10.1 is the thinnest and of course is most compelling tablet competitively today.

Galaxy Tab 10.1 has got PLS TFT display while the older Galaxy Tab was having the ordinary TFT display. The PLS technology really adds up a better display quality which makes it even better outside in bright sunny condition.

On top of every thing we don’t want you to miss out the Dual Core ARM Cortex-A9 processor at 1GHz Clock Speed with the dedicated GPU, nVidia Tegra 2 T20 Chipset.

Of course a Dual Core processor at 1GHz allows you to do more with a device but in addition the Tegra 2 super chip enables console-quality gaming, powerful multimedia capabilities, faster web browsing with full Adobe Flash support, HD resolution (1280×800) and 1080p HD video playback.

Know more about Tegra Gaming at nVidia TegraZone.

Galaxy Tab 10.1 has a set of stereo speakers on both of the sides

On the top we get 3.5mm audio jack and a SIM card slot. (Wait! it’s not for voice calls. If you remember the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 doesn’t have GSM voice capability. The SIM is for data usage. Currently GPRS/EDGE is only what you can use with it from). While on the left side on top there is volume rocker and a power button.

At bottom of the Tablet there is 30-Pin proprietary port along with a microphone just besides it. The port serves for keyboard dock and multi-purpose usage.

The bad thing is that there is no more ports if you are waiting for any. Built-in ports are just what we’ve added above. No built-in USB/MicroUSB, no SD/MicroSD Card slot or no HDMI out port. But the proprietary port is there to serve these services for which you are going to need extra purchases of Samsung Accessories e.g. USB Host Adapter, HDMI Out Adapter as well as an SD Card Reader adapter.

Camera is on the back of the Tablet having an LED Flash besides.

That’s all we got on the Galaxy Tab 10.1
