Nokia Link beta for N9 now available for Windows XP and Vista

The first public version of Nokia Link was released a few months ago which initially was released for Windows 7 and MAC OS X 10.6 and 10.7. Nokia Beta Labs has now released a newer version of Nokia Link which will work on Windows XP and Windows Vista. This update was brought in against of the users feedback and is said to be the most requested option.

I am not sure if it was true that original public version of Nokia Link was not supported with Windows XP and/or Vista as I didn’t try that

Syncing contacts and calendar with Nokia Link is not in the plans and may(apparently) not be added in future as well. And the reason being that Nokia N9 already has the simplest way to sync it over-the-air. You can read our full review with synchronization.

Nokia Link now runs on a computer with Windows XP or Windows Vista (in addition to Windows 7, Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard, and Mac OS X 10.7 Lion), which is one of the most requested improvements to the program. Being able to copy mobile content to and from smart playlists in iTunes and Windows Media Player is another useful addition. And because people were looking for an easy way to remove content, such as music, from the memory of their Nokia N9 phone, we wanted to make sure that this would be an easy thing to do with Nokia Link. Plus, we’ve done a lot of polishing and fixed a bunch of errors that had been found in the previous version.

Compatibility:

This version of Nokia Link will work on following operating systems.

  • Windows 7, Vista, XP 32-bit & 64-bit,
  • Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard, Mac OSX 10.7 Lion

Known Issues:

In XP, user sometimes gets a crash when quitting Nokia Link: a dialog popups “DpEngine.exe has encountered a problem and needs to
close…”. This issue is currently under investigation.
