Skype, now when in talks about Windows Phone, has been in talks since Nokia Belle was leaked and stopped working on it. There were various applications on Symbian that actually stopped working on Nokia Belle or started to crash in between their execution due to having some compatibility issues. Skype was one of them but now there is new version of Skype on Nokia Store v2.1.23 that works fine on Nokia Belle.

Well it more looks like just a compatibility version and not more features been added other than the bottom Belle navigation buttons. Worth mentioning that there is still no support for video calling as ever expected by users. However there is no such a rumor or news about that it could be a part of Skype’s future updates to bring video calling on Symbian platform.
Update: This is the cross-device version of Skype hence is available for all devices running Belle OS no matter if it’s officially running on Nokia 700, 701, 603 or if it’s the leaked version of Belle OS running on Nokia N8, Nokia E7, Nokia C7 etc. Above screenshots were taken from a Nokia N8 running Belle OS version 111.030.0609 that was recently showed up on Navifirm.

Today we have released a Skype 2.1 update for Symbian.
This update brings to you a support for new smartphones Nokia 701 and Nokia 603 running on Symbian Belle.
