[Update: No 3G!] “Downloading Fast!” – Mobilink teases about 3G Mobile Broadband or What? with an Indian Movie Star

Mobilink Pakistan has just sent out an email to social media and/or blogosphere of the country to let the words out about “Something is coming” and for that the hint is “Downloading Fast!”. Well the very first impression from the hint goes to the fast internet and what could be that in Pakistan? There is nothing specific told about the exact thing but our guess is that it’s about 3G or something alike, Mobilink will be bringing to mobile users who have been waiting for fast mobile broadband like 3G since years.

And look who’s hinting about the fact. She’s Nargis Fakhri, the Indian movie star from a bollywood block buster Rockstar. So whatever it is (even if not 3G), Mobilink will be launching that with this model in their upcoming ads, TVC or billboards.

Being a gadget and mobile applications review website we didn’t cover such a telecom news before but we thought this is a real spoon for mobile users in Pakistan so have it.

Note: 3G Mobile Broadband or something alike is just our own guess. Mobilink has not yet confirmed about such a thing nor they mentioned. Another thing to note is that there have not been successful auctions held where the Govt. of Pakistan has issued the licenses for such operations in the county to any of the telecom company. We are not sure if the company can advertise before having a license for that product to launch. If it’s really about 3G then there might be some auction for companies to avail licenses in near future.

Update – 2300 hrs 05-10-2012: So just as we noted above it’s not what it looked like. No! It’s not 3G. You just forget about it for now as there is a lot of things you will see prior to that faster thing actually come in place. The TVC has been aired on national TV channels staring Ali Zafar and Nargis Fakhri to promote Mobilink’s one of the already existing internet bundle package that is “Rs. 9.99 for daily unlimited internet” – Well Super fast internet as they call it.
