Nokia Chat beta for Windows Phone released, Exclusive to Nokia Lumia

That’s for sure true! Buying a Nokia branded Windows Phone brings amazingly useful apps that are exclusive to Nokia’s Windows Phones. A bundle of apps on the Windows Store from Nokia’s exclusives are however only available for Windows Phone but many of them have been initiated from the previous platforms of Nokia. “Symbian” or even S40 platforms they are.

“Nokia Chat”, previously (and still) been working on Symbian, Asha and Series 40 devices, has now been released for Windows Phone platforms including both WP 7.5 and WP 8.  The first version of Nokia Chat for Windows Phone which is beta release can now be downloaded and installed from Windows Phone Store following the link at Nokia Beta Labs (after the break).

Nokia Chat on Windows Phone is an IM client that supports messaging between Nokia Chat users as well as you can bind a Yahoo account to chat with your Yahoo contacts whether they are using Nokia Chat at other side or any other Yahoo client at whatever platform. In addition to the messaging, in Nokia Chat for Windows Phone, exclusive to Lumias, you can have Live Tile updates with Push Notifications, can Share places e.g.  restaurant, store, or other point of interest with your contacts and if the recipient is also using Lumia, they will see the location info inside the HERE Maps app.  You can broadcast your location via your status message, that is to tell your contacts where you are on the go.

Windows Phone 8 users get a special treat of features which include Speak your message; that lets you compose via speaking the text, Voice Commands; to initiate Nokia Chat via Windows Phone’s voice recognition interface by speaking “Chat with <contact name>” followed by long-pressing the Windows Phone’s “Start Key”, Lock Screen Notifications; that displays any notifications related to Nokia Chat on your lock screen.

Unfortunately Nokia Chat is currently released for only a few regions which include United States, United Kingdom, India, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, and Nigeria.
