Recently leaked screenshots of Moto X’s camera user interface reveals that a lot of inspiration has already been taken from Windows Phone’s camera UI and specifically the Nokia’s newly introduced Nokia Pro Camera app focusing most towards photography intuitive user interface.

Swipe/drag up and down to control zooming function on the viewfinder was first introduced in Nokia 808 PureView which was humbly appreciated by many. When Nokia introduced Nokia Lumia 1020 a week ago, a photography centric app was also introduced by Nokia, the Nokia Pro Camera which gives a quick and in-depth camera interface to the photographers.

Tap to take a photo was already a Windows Phone’s camera feature. Swiping from left or right to bring in the photo gallery or camera viewfinder back. The Moto X’s leaked info shows a little difference of bringing photo gallery from right and settings wheel menu from left. The drag up and down feature to zoom in and out on the viewfinder is exactly what we have seen on Nokia 808 PureView’s camera UI and yet to be seen on Nokia Pro Camera app.

Another feature is to open the camera app whenever you want, no matter which app you are currently in. Just twist your wrist twice to open the camera app. This works even when the screen is turned off. They way is different but the purpose of serving the camera user interface as quickly as needed to capture a moment has always been in Nokia smartphones. Windows Phone 8 devices ship with a dedicated camera shutter key which open the camera app by long pressing just like Nokia’s smartphone have been doing since long.

These similarities we have found so far and we do appreciate for such an interface being improved for camera handling in Android. But still we believe the one presented in Nokia Pro Camera would be a great handler for camera shooters with all those manual controls and settings. We know it doesn’t bring Nokia’s monster camera hardware but interface itself is a big deal to be perfect for photographers. Do let us know with your opinion below.
