64-bit A7 Processor:
Getting straight to the features, the iPhone 5S looks more or less similar to the original iPhone 5 but has got real upgrade inside. The very first thing to know about is the processor. new iPhone 5S has been packed with the new Apple’s A7 SoC processor which is surprisingly of a 64-bit architecture. In a mobile/smartphone world, it’s the very first 64-bit processor to be known always in future which is 40 times faster than the original iPhone for certain features. The support for the latest version 3 of Open GL ES has also been added.
M7 Motion Coprocessor:
There is also a newly introduced M7 chip alongside the A7 processor. Called as “Motion Coprocessor”, the chip functions continuously to monitor the data from motion sensors like accelerometer, gyroscope and compass. This is dedicated to facilitate the (expected upcoming) fitness apps for health monitoring. For developers, Apple has introduced a new APIs for step counting and motion tracking in Core Motion framework to interact with the said hardware.
Touch ID, Fingerprint Reader:
Much speculated as a fingerprint reader sensor, Apple has put the thing with a new name as “Touch ID” which serves with the same purpose. To unlock your device’s screen, Apple has equipped the new iPhone 5S with a new fingerprint sensor residing underneath the newly designed home button.
Well with this thing in a smartphone phone, you do not need to enter your lock codes while unlocking the screen. A finger print setup manager is provided as a software which can store multiple fingerprints (multiple Touch IDs) which means the device is not limited to be used by a single person only. If, and only if, you let your siblings or your kids or your wife use your phone, you can set them up with the phone with their finger prints. Fingerprints are directly stored in an encrypted form on to the chip.
Camera:
Camera on the other hand is also improved with a friend like “True Tone” dual-LED flash having two different temperature colors.
Unlike Nokia, Samsung or HTC, Apple however is still with 8 megapixels sensor while improving other elements in the camera. Focusing on the low-light improvement, the iPhone 5S now has the wider lens opening with the aperture of f/2.2 and it’s the 5-elements lens. (nothing specifically mentioned about the sensor physical size) It’s told to be 15 times larger than the predecessor. Well theoretically it should improve taking quality pictures in low-light with less noise. We’ll really want to see that.
The new iPhone 5S can take 10 shots per second in a burst mode
On the video recording side, the new iPhone 5S seems to run side by side with the Galaxy S4. It’s built to take 120 frames per seconds when recording in 720p mode.
Price and Availability and variants:
Apple iPhone 5S will be available in three variants. 16GB, 32GB and 64GB starting from $199, $299 and $399 respectively. Wireless service plans will vary on AT&T, Sprint and Verizon. iPhone 5S will be available to choose from three different shades including gold, silver and space gray.
Apple will start taking orders on September 20th for iPhone 5S. No pre-orders plan for iPhone 5S. It will be available in the US, the UK, Australia, Canada, China, France, Germany, Japan and Singapore.
What such things you would want to do with your smartphone which are as much secure or as much resource eating where the hardware needs these components? However camera is a good thing to improve as much as it could, being the on-the-go partner with you to capture the world around you. It delivers more quality as much it improves.
Whatever, Apple has put interesting components in the new flagship which is bound to attract.
