During the pre-MWC press conference, Microsoft VP Joe Belfiore promised a major update to Windows Phone that will arrive later this Spring expanding the app ecosystem on the Windows Phone OS. He teased with the Facebook Messenger that is making its way to Windows Phone within the next few weeks. No additional details were disclosed nor specific date was given as it’s in works. An official announcement really does matter, hence it does so.

I’ve been a Windows Phone 8 user and really am comfortable what it was yet serving with current facebook instant messaging integration within the Windows Phone “Messaging” app. The Facebook Messenger app on Windows Phone is said to be standalone just like on other platforms it is. We’ll see how will it perform on the Windows Phone.

Be noted that standard Facebook app available already on Windows Phone OS is published by Microsoft but not Facebook itself. We’ll call it a third-party app for that quite reason. The Facebook Messenger app is also being considered the same way as will be published by Microsoft without the interference of Facebook.
