Lumia 630 was announced for UAE and Pakistan in June along with the flagship Lumia 930. Microsoft Devices Pakistan (Nokia Pakistan) have sent us a review unit of Lumia 630 to test. While we’ll be having it for trail for a couple of days here we have a session of unboxing this device in a separately just like always.
The other counterpart of this device is the variant Lumia 635 which shares everything with Lumia 630 but leaves the Dual SIM option and adds 4G/LTE for desiring consumers. In Pakistan currently only Zong serves 4G network. Lumia 630 with the Dual SIM option is suitable for you if you are on a network other than Zong.
Lumia 630 comes with the Windows Phone 8.1 pre-installed with all those features acclaimed including Action Center, Cortana, Word Flow keyboard, customizable Start Screen and Lock Screen, Updated Photos & Camera etc..
Right when we received this device at our station, the first impressions noticeable were about its packaging. Unlike before, the Nokia Lumia 630 comes in a slim drawer packaging with an outer quarter cut box with an easy grip to extract the inner drawer box.
The device itself resides on the one half of the inner box while the other half is covering the provided accessories under it. Well that’s just it you get with the Lumia 630. You can see in the following picture.
There is no data cable and there is no headset included in the accessories. You only get travel charger with the fixed micro USB connector. The battery pack, you will install into the device to run it up. The third thing is the Quick User Guide.
Battery is 1830mAh which you can power up with the 5V/750mA power charger.
We have seen the absence of data cable with many budget smartphones from Nokia. With a select number of devices they delivered only a small length of the data/connectivity cable. That always made me uncomfortable but know after seeing the absence of the headset, it made me think that during the completion of the process of Microsoft/Nokia acquisition Nokia hardly managed to keep shipping the mostly needed accessories with the low-end and budget smartphones. Now after completion Microsoft seems to be thinking to reduce cost of budget smartphones with removing all needed accessories along with the device purchase.
That’s all you get with the Lumia 630.
