Along with the latest iPhone 6s and 6s Plus devices, Apple also launched the long-rumored iPad Pro. It now features as big as 12.9 inch Retina display with resolution of 2732 x 2048 pixels. With this size of display, the new model is the largest in the iPad line-up till date.
iPad Pro comes packed with Apple’s new 64-bit A9X chip and M9 motion co-processor, with third-generation 64-bit architecture which is claimed to provide desktop-class processing performance at CPU and console-class graphics. The new iPad also features ultra-fast wireless connectivity with 802.11ac Wi-Fi with MIMO technology while another variant supports additionally a wide range of LTE bands as well as 3G and 3.5G (DC-HSDPA, HSPA+). 38.5 Wh battery is packed inside and is said to last as longer as up to 10 hours of surfing web on wi-Fi, watching video, or listening to music.
12.9 inch iPad Pro has the pixel density of 264 ppi with the resolution of 2732 x 2048 pixels and has the body which is 12″ (305.7 mm) in length, 8.68″ (220.6 mm) wide and 0.27″ (6.9 mm) thick. The new iPad is 0.8 mm thicker than the iPad Air 2.
The new quad speaker sound system is added into iPad Pro’s four corners delivering volume three times of the iPad Air 2. It also dynamically adjusts the volume according to the way the user is holding the iPad.
iPad Pro features iSight 8MP camera on the back with f/2.4 aperture and five-element lens. It’s Backside illuminated with Hybrid IR filter and improved face detection. On the front you will have a FaceTime HD camera of 1.2 megapixels for video chatting and now-more-common selfie.
The new iPad Pro is said to enable the new generation of advanced apps for everything from productivity, design, illustration, engineering and medical, to education, gaming and entertainment. The large screen doesn’t only come with huge set of options but it also make use of some new features coming all the way with iOS 9.
Releasing on September 16th, iOS 9 brings more features to iPad with proactive assistance, Improved search and Siri features. New multitasking features specifically designed for iPad are said to allow users to do more at the same time.
While presenting at the event, Apple also demonstrated a range of new apps that take advantage of the iPad Pro’s features. Unlike before at an Apple event, a Microsoft’s guy participated to showcase its productivity tools on iPad while Adobe demoed its new suite of apps for the iPad including Photoshop Fix which lets you modify/edit images of up to 50 megapixels using – that too with Apple Pencil. The new app has the ability to detect faces in the image and also allows users to isolate the facial features.
The first time ever, Apple also brought a stylus with the iPad Pro, Apple Pencil for iPad Pro which makes drawing and sketching easy and natural as always you would think with a physical pencil on the paper or more commonly a stylus on the tablets.
The touch subsystem in iPad Pro should reduce the latency and deliver accuracy while working with Apple Pencil for activities like fine art illustration and detailed 3D design – as Apple suggests it so. Apple Pencil is equipped with sensors to measure both pressure and tilt for relative drawing experience. It also works with popular apps like Mail, Notes, Procreate and Office 365 for iPad, which of course should give better experience on the iPad. There is also built-in Lightning connector with Apple Pencil for quick and easy pairing and charging.
More importantly, the Apple Pencil does not come with the iPad Pro. You have to buy it separately for $99 (US).
Well, here you go with a new Smart Keyboard from Apple which can also be a part of iPad Pro. It offers a full-sized keyboard in a thin and portable design – it’s more like the one for Surface Pro 3.
It attaches to iPad Pro’s innovative Smart Connector port, eliminating the need for a separate battery, on/off switch or Bluetooth pairing. The Smart Keyboard is covered in custom woven fabric and features keys that provide the accuracy, stability and satisfying key feel of standard keyboards, but is also easily foldable and can transform into a Smart Cover®. The Smart Keyboard also works seamlessly with new QuickType® features in iOS 9 to make typing even faster and easier.
Like the Apple Pencil, the Smart Keyboard will also be available for purchase separately and the price of the keyboard is $169 (US). Smart Keyboard will be available in Charcoal Gray color.
Polyurethane-made Smart Covers for iPad Pro will be available for $59 (US) in Charcoal gray and White colors. Silicone Cases for iPad Pro will be available for $79 (US) also in Charcoal gray and White colors. These accessories will be available starting in November.
