Sony launched “Concept for Android” for Xperia X with Android 7 Nougat

Sony’s alternative concept Android software  is now available for Xperia X. The company launched the “Sony’s Concept for Android” last summer as a crowd sourcing program to let the software grow with combined effort of having new ideas, innovation and experiences.

Xperia community was the closed group where this alternative software kept growing. The development workflow allows customers to give their feedback and use the real-time usage data to maintain the software with containing things the customers use and enjoy most with.

This software provides regular firmware updates in shorter release cycles. The software development teams are currently in Sweden, Beijing, and Tokyo who are constantly working on development – “Sony’s Concept for Android gives us the opportunity to explore and test new ways for people to communicate and get things done.”

Here are the features of the latest concept:

  • A sneak-peek at some of the latest features that will be part of future Xperia products
  • Android 7.0, Nougat, which includes new native features such as multi-window support and improved notifications
  • Access to Sony’s inTouch community, providing direct access to our software engineers and a chance to influence development & coming releases

This program is currently open to Xperia X users in Europe – simply download the “Concept Installer” app from Google Play and follow the simple steps to complete the process. If a user doesn’t like something, or they feel a feature is not serving as needed they can give their feedback right from the device’s inTouch feedback portal. The developers will listen to the feedback, make the experience better or even remove the feature entirely and focus on something else.
