Galaxy S8 Leaked Evan Blass evleaks

If you have been following Samsung Galaxy S8 leaks and rumors, this update will be the best of all you had till now as this comes from yet most credible source – Evan Blass (@evleaks). The visuals of Galaxy S8, you can see above in the featured photo.

Availability and Pricing

Most important things that you will be curious to know of course will be the price and availability of the next Samsung flagship. Well according to report, the Galaxy S8 will launch on March 29th, around a month later after MWC 2017 and the phone will go on sale even later on April 21st. Samsung announced earlier this week that their next flagship announcement may take a little more time to ensure safety of their products before they go into consumers’ hands.

Catching up with earlier rumors, the new information also reveal that Galaxy S8 will be available in a larger size than its predecessors while the two variants will come in 5.8-inch display and 6.2-inch display. Both will cost €799 and €899 respectively in Europe – that’s €100 increase in price from previous year’s Galaxy S7 models.

This will be the first time that Samsung will not be launching the Galaxy S smartphone at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain, which has always been the event for the Korean smartphone maker to launch their previous Galaxy S series smartphones. In fact breaking the chain, this year’s Unpacked event will be held in New York City.

Galaxy S8 variants and Display Sizes

Galaxy S8, according to new and previously emerged reports, will be featuring dual-curved displays on both the variants with 5.8-inch screen and 6.2-inch screen. Both will serve at the similar resolution around QHD as the aspect ratio reportedly varies from the standard 16:9 to 18.5:9. Consider the extended resolution for on-screen navigation which has never been adapted by Samsung previous Galaxy S devices.

Samsung is also reportedly adding the pressure sensitive (with likes of Apple’s 3D touch or Huawei’s Force touch) into Galaxy S8 but only at lower part of the display. As reported by the Guardian, Samsung calls the new display in Galaxy S8 as – “infinity display“.

System on Chip and Processor

Reports suggest that like previously, Samsung will equip the Galaxy S8 with different system on chips based on the regions they are released. Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 and Samsung’s own Exynos are the options and both built upon 10nm process. The smartphone is reported to be 11% overall faster than its predecessor and 23% faster in graphics while the same 20% more energy efficient.

RAM and Storage

The Galaxy S8 is reported to have the same 4GB RAM with the base storage option of 64GB along side expandable storage via microSD card up to 256GB. It’s also reported that the phones will have rather lower battery juice than needed for such larger displays as the phones will be featuring 3000mAh and 3500mAh batteries for the 5.8-inch model and 6.2-inch model respectively.

Camera and Imaging

On the imaging side, Galaxy S8 will feature the same 12 megapixel rear camera but will have higher resolution 8 megapixel front camera improved from 5MP on Galaxy S7. The front camera on Galaxy S8 is reported to feature the same iris scanner that was debuted in the Galaxy Note 7. The main camera features include improvements and additions though. One such feature is the “visual search” which uses optical character recognition (OCR) system and allows the user to perform the search on photographs. The system will search the photographer through the web.

Other Features

Visible in the shots above, Galaxy S8 will feature a USB Type-C connectivity and Samsung still adds support of traditional 3.5 mm audio jack which, according to report, will have focus in the launch presentation.

Another design move which was also known in earlier leaks and rumors, the fingerprint scanner is placed on the rear side of the Galaxy S8 instead of the one embedded in home button on the front. As the pictures show above, it’s placed on the side of the camera module which doesn’t seem to be a really good place for a fingerprint scanner.

Galaxy S8 is also reported to have Microsoft Continuum feature, named as Samsung DeX but will require an added HDMI equipped dock accessory. The feature will allow the users to connect the Galaxy S8 to large monitor and control via keyboard and mouse – also attached to the dock.

Last but not the least, Galaxy S8 will reportedly have Samsung’s own digital assistant – widely known as Bixby – with the likes of Google Assistant and Apple’s Siri.
