The Smartphone, you can wash with Soap and Water

Kyocera Rafre Washable Smartphone

Ever you asked your kids to clean your smartphone after when they made the phone covered with dirty finger prints and smudges all over it? And when you just got stunned if they head over to wash the phone to clean it? This phone has got something to make you really careless about it.

Japanese smartphone maker, Kyocera has just launched a new phone which can be washed with soap and hot water – called “rafre”. The new phone is a successor to the original DIGNO rafre launched in 2015 which was limited to wash with only foaming hand soap.

Upgrading on the features from its predecessor including hot water resistance and a touchscreen that can be used with wet hands, the second-gen rafre smartphone is now resistant to foaming body soap in addition to hand soap.

The new rafre smartphone can be used with hand gestures without touching the screen that support a bunch of applications including – setting timers and answering calls, as well as the phone has new cooking app that allows to scroll through recipes all with gestures. It’s useful when you are actually cooking and don’t want to touch the smartphone but operate it – in fact better when you are eating lunch or having dinner.

While the focus is on the washable capability of the phone, you can in fact use the phone when taking bath or in a situation when you are out and suddenly the raining starts. You just don’t need to struggle saving the phone from being exposed to water.

The 4G/LTE phone weighs only 158 grams with a 3000mAh battery and sports a 5 inch HD display. The phone equips with a 13 megapixels rear camera along side a 5MP front facing camera. It runs Android 7.0 Nougat and features a 2GB RAM with 16GB internal storage.

With the water resistance, the phone is rated with MIL-STD-810G Method 516.7, Shock-Procedure IV / IPX5, IPX8 / IP5X.

Kyocera rafre will only be available in Japanese markets starting from March 2017. Colour availability ranges from Pale Pink, Clear White and Light Blue. Other markets can only dream about such a phone.
