Long rumored Huawei P10 with its Plus sibling goes official today at grand mobile technology event in Barcelona — Mobile World Congress.

The successor Huawei P series has improved design and display along with internal hardware and the specialized Leica camera, not only on the back but on the front too.

Huawei has brought a wide range of colours availability for both the devices in metal-build with hyper-diamond cut and sandblasted finish. For instance, the former finish will be available in Dazzling Blue and Dazzling Gold while the latter finish will give you the options to choose from Greenery, Rose Gold, Mystic Silver, Graphite Black and Prestige Gold.

In addition, a white color will also be available in glossy ceramic finish.

Leica Dual Camera 2.0

Features to follow down below, but here we talk about the most marketed feature of the Huawei P series smartphone, the camera. It improves on its predecessor with both, the image sensor and the optics. Dubbed as the Dual-Camera 2.0, it brings dual-camera setup in Huawei P10 just similar to what we have in Mate 9 – a 20 megapixel monochrome sensor and a 12 megapixel RGB sensor.

The lenses on the standard Huawei P10 are similar to its predecessor’s SUMMARIT-H, each with an f/2.2 aperture but now has optical image stabilization (OIS) for stable low-light shots.

Leica Dual Camera 2.0 Pro Edition

Huawei P10 Plus, while features the same dual-camera setup as its standard sibling above, equips with larger aperture lenses – SUMMILUX-H f/1.8 with 27mm equivalent focal length. This setup also has optical image stabilization.

The new camera setups in both the devices feature 4K video recording and 2x hybrid zoom.

Leica Front Camera

Now that’s what Huawei has introduced with the new P10 and P10 Plus smartphones, the feature which is dubbed as Portrait Mode, is a combination of variable aperture mode with the traditional beautify mode. While the Portrait Mode is available on main camera, it’s now also available on the front-facing camera. Thanks to the Leica optics, now also featured into front camera for selfies to standout.

The front camera with 8 megapixel image sensor and f/1.9 large aperture comes with features like live previews with the bokeh effect which is not present with the main camera.

Let’s not forget the refocus capability of the simulated bokeh effect in Huawei P10 and P10 Plus.

Huawei P10 and P10 Plus – Introduction

A bit similar to its predecessor, Huawei P10 also has a full metal unibody structure but with a fresh new look around the corners. The phone has antenna stripes through the back panel which are visible on the bottom but the top ones are camouflaged into the wider camera module topped with glass panel. However they are almost unnoticeable in the black model.

Huawei moves on with switching the location of several components on both the devices. One such is the fingerprint scanner, always used to locate on the back panel, now it’s embedded on the home button on front screen. Yes! there’s a physical home button on Huawei P10, Huawei never did before the Mate 9 Porsche Design or Mate 9 Pro. It’s a capacitive touch key underneath the one continuous glass panel.

The new home button works similarly to that worked in Mate 9 variants previously – one tap for “back”, hold for “home”, or swipe for “task switcher”

Huawei P10 and P10 Plus – Features

Huawei P10 standard edition has a 2.5D curved screen above the 5.1″ IPS display with 1080p full HD resolution. Just a reminder that the predecessor, P9 had a 5.2 inch display instead. However the new P10 is powered by the latest proprietary chipset Kirin 960 debuted with Huawei Mate 9 later last year. The phone has a single package to buy as with 64GB internal storage and 4GB of RAM.

Huawei P10 Plus also features the same chipset Kirin 960 but comes in two variants as 4GB RAM/64GB storage or 6GB RAM/128GB storage. The phone has a larger 5.5 inch display with QHD resolution of 2560×1440 pixels.

Both the phones obviously run on Android 7.0 Nougat with the most appreciated Huawei flavor to date – EMUI 5.1.
