Nokia 3310 reborn officially – Nice and Thin Remake, Color Screen

Nokia 3310

Following the recent rumors, HMD has officially launched the Nokia 3310 in a modern look for its second version in 2017. Released after 17 years, the new Nokia 3310 still is a feature phone, as suggested in rumors, for €49.

While the original Nokia 3310 was only sold out in a gray color with a monochrome screen, the recent iteration of the mobile phone comes in four colors as well as the screen provide iconic color display. The original gray is also available in with a slight modern thematic change.

Particularly, the new Nokia 3310 is slimmer than the original with mostly rounded corners and edges. Though it maintains its shape and silhouette. The back panel is straight with no original cut as well as the on the front side, the 2.4 inch display has QVGA resolution with slight-curved glass on top.

The new Nokia 3310 runs on the Nokia Series 30+ operating system. With a redesigned user interface to resemble the original, the modern version of the phone comes with some added features. The phone comes with 2MP camera on the back with an LED flash. Even though it comes with an Opera browser pre-installed for browsing, the phone only supports GSM/EDGE connectivity nor it has a WiFi support. So you are limited to use a slow 2G connection for browsing.

HMD does not disclose about the processor and RAM, however the on-board storage is no more than 16MB (yes, megabytes). Most of that storage is used for the system software and apps, microSD card with up to 32GB capacity can be used for extended storage.

The new Nokia 3310 comes with a 3.5mm AV connector (for audio and probably the video output on TV? wonderfully). It supports Bluetooth 3.0 with SLAM and comes with a built-in FM radio and MP3 Player.

The phone comes with a removable 1200mAh battery and supports micro USB for charging.

What else we have in the new Nokia 3310, sure it’s the popular Snake game.

We have seen variations in the Snake game through all of the Nokia’s portfolio of different mobile phones and smartphones (or I say early smartphones – the Symbian ones.) In addition to to color version versions of the game, Nokia had also released 3D Snake game in various Symbian versions. This new game is more like a color implementation of the original Snake game with the likes of classic one.

The truth is, with advancement of technology and adapting with new time and demands, things are getting more fragile than ever. Original Nokia 3310 – which is remembered for being the most sturdy and indestructible mobile phone on the planet, doesn’t seem to be as strong in its modern version.
