YouTube Partner Program restricted monetization to have at least 10,000 Channel views

YouTube has announced significant changes to its Partner Program which may not excite the new content creators. New users looking to make money on the largest video platform will be subjected to Google’s expanded safeguards.

While according to new policy, new users can apply for monetization anytime they want. However approval of the application is subjected to the required amount of views on your channel.

Likewise, if you have already created a new YouTube channel and luckily have linked an approved adsense account prior to this expansion, your videos will not run ads until you get 10,000 views on your channel.

The move is actually aimed at restricting abuse “where great, original content is re-uploaded by others who try to earn revenue from it.”

Update: YouTube Partner Program’s New Review Process

YouTube Partner Program Expansion in Brief

Starting April 6th, 2017, YouTube will no longer serve ads on Partner Program videos until a channel reaches 10,000 lifetime views. The video platform believes that the new threshold of required number of channel views will give enough information to determine the validity of a channel.

“It also allows us to confirm if a channel is following our community guidelines and advertiser policies. By keeping the threshold to 10k views, we also ensure that there will be minimal impact on our aspiring creators.”

The change, however, will not impact on the revenue any channel “with under 10k views” has already earned. The revenue will add up once the channel restarts serving ads on the videos after reaching minimum threshold of views.

YouTube has plans to introduce a review process for new creators that will allow them to apply for Partner Program. They will wait until their channel hits 10k lifetime views, when YouTube will review their activity on the channel to see if everything is fine and abides by the policies. In a positive result, the channel will start showing ads on the videos.
