RED is making a smartphone “Hydrogen One” with holographic display

RED Hydrogen One

High-end cinema camera maker, RED has announced that it’s making “Hydrogen One” – a premium smartphone that will feature a “holographic display” to be the world’s first of its kind. It will not need any glasses in addition.

The smartphone will feature a 5.7-inch display that will use nanotechnology to “seamlessly [switch] between traditional 2D content, holographic multi-view content, 3D content, and interactive games.”

Jim Jannard, founder RED, said in the user forums later after the announcement that they can not describe everything about the phone which you can only experience when you see it. “there is no good way to describe it until you see it.” he said.

“Our display is technology you haven’t seen before. It is not lenticular, which is inferior tech in every way, has been tried many times before and failed for good reason. (see Amazon 3D Fire, LG Optimus, etc).” Jim added.

In the statement, RED disclosed that an algorithm will be used to convert stereo sound into multi-dimensional audio to create an immersive experience. “ASSAULT YOUR SENSES.” RED states.

Hydrogen One will support modular attachments like we have seen on Moto Z line or more recently the Essential Phone. RED’s smartphone will specially focus on imaging – sure due to the expertise of the company. That will make the phone stacked into RED’s lineup of digital cinema cameras.

The RED’s smartphone will start shipping early 2018 but interested customers can place their orders right now as the phone is available for pre-order on RED’s website. Well, yes! it’s expensive and costs $1,195 (PKR ~1,25,000/-) for the aluminum model. The other, titanium model will cost even higher as $1,595 (PKR ~1,68,000/-).
