Microsoft has released the preview of Windows Phone 8.1 for developers which is now available to download. The new version of Windows Phone was announced at recent Build Conference 2014 which showcased major features from the software update including Cortana (a digital voice assistant like Siri from Apple), a notification center, skinned tiles with background etc.

The preview of Windows Phone 8.1 is supposed to be available for registered Windows Phone developers and if you are you can now download the update on your device. An ETA for public release has not been disclosed yet. For being developer’s only update this could have a few bugs yet to be fixed, but if you want to check it out (even if you are not a developer) then head over to our previous post where you can learn how to upgrade to Windows Phone 8.1 Developer Preview.

Joe Belfiore from Microsoft has already tweeted with the breaking news for developers

I have already set a Lumia 1520 on downloading the update and getting ready to check the features while posting this. There it’s also needed to mention that this update only include features from the Microsoft and that does not include features which are yet to come with “Nokia Cyan” software update for Nokia Lumia devices.
