Nokia N8 Scratch Protection – Stealth Guards Review.

Please don’t ask me that why I went for some extra protection on my Nokia N8 when it’s already having a scratch resistant Gorilla Glass on the screen and Aluminium body. It’s always better to be as safer as you can. And transparent protection wouldn’t give you any harm.

Mid last December, I ordered a full body protection for my Nokia N8 on Stealth Guards. It was just as quick purchase via my Credit Card stupidly without thinking that it could be a scam. It was for $0.00 for the protectors themselves but the shipping cost was applied.

The protectors kit I ordered for was High Gloss Finish and Ultra Clear Scratch Resistant which cost $0.00 for itself. But the shipping to Pakistan cost me $2.85 (PKR ~245.00/-)

Other price values were as (rates can be changed later. check new at http://www.stealthguards.com/index.php/nokia-n8-full-body-protection.html)

  • High Gloss Finish (Ordered)
  • Matte Finish +$1.99
  • Ultra Clear Scratch Resistant (Ordered)
  • Stealth Black Scratch Resistant +$6.99
  • Black Carbon Fiber Scratch Resistant +$6.99
  • White Carbon Fiber Scratch Resistant +$6.

I actually had received the it earlier than posting it now. They sent me two email, first one was the order confirmation right after when I placed the order and the second one I found in my mailbox a day later. It was the shipping information email, like some thing to inform me that the shipment has been dispatched. It was a bit relax to my breath.

I must tell you that in $2.85 (PKR ~245/-) I received just a receipt and two plates of protectors in an envelop. No solution was included. It was even fine that I got full body protectors in Rs. 245/- only. They main reason to order it was that I had tried in the local market here but there was no screen protector available in the market at that time. Every body was offering to make specially for it but there was no availability on that time. Some of them were having as well but not so good. After visiting the market a couple of times I found one better in a shop and went for it. He gave sold it for Rs. 250/- due to short availability. I bought that as I was really in a need.

After that I googled for the N8 screen protectors and this was the one most cheaper I found. I just went to buy it.

Any ways here it is. I have extracted the protectors from these white papers and already have applied on my Nokia N8. Just thought to take pictures in between the process of applying. The Stealth Guard screen protector has not been applied yet on the screen as the previous one was still good on it. I’ve kept it on a safe place and will apply as soon as I need it and will update this post as well.

Visually it’s nice and not bad at all. I liked it. As it’s better in this price.

Pros:

  • It’s really cheaper out there
  • It’s easy to apply the back body protection without any solution. It will forget your finger prints on the adhesive side. (But better you get you your hands washed and be careful of the dust, stay away from it.)
  • Material quality is appreciable in this price.
  • Stretching is possible in a much better way. You can stretch it while applying to cover more possible area. (Don’t do it with the screen protector though.)

Cons:

  • No solution is included. You need to make it yourself. as described in installation guide. (It’s better you use solution to apply it on the screen)
  • It’s not actually FULL body protection. sides are still naked.
  • Fingerprints are easy to remain on it. but not much
  • You will receive it in a letter envelop. I was surprised to see they were not bent inside.

I can rate it as follows

  • Installation: 4/5
  • Look and Feel: 4/5
  • Price: 5/5
  • Grip and Handling: 4/5
  • Scratch Protection: 4.5/5 (scratches disappears easily sooner or later)

  • does touchscreen response suffer? i really dont like to have these covers for display like N8. I advised same to my cousin and hes liking N8 without covers. feel more smooth operation.

    • It's always better experience without a screen protector specially on Nokia N8 as it even provides a nice glass on it already scratch resistant. However I didn't used it for more than 2 days without protector.

But the touch responsiveness...... I really didn't feel some thing bad about it. But of course it disturbs when the screen gets greasy. But the same experience you can have on the screen without protector, I guess.

I have received two more sets actually for Nexus One and HTC Desire, I'll post about that soon.
