Everyone knows that Galaxy S had been equipped with one of the best display types which is Super-AMOLED, as successor to regular AMOLED which came in Nokia N8. Also technically the Super-AMOLED surpasses the AMOLED in different aspects. So after reading around about Nokia N8 performing not less than Galaxy S in giving display results, I thought to test both of them myself.
Recently, earlier, I tested the displays on both devices in dark (indoor) and in direct sunlight (outdoor). In short, I also found that AMOLED in Nokia N8 did really a good job. Keeping in mind, that if considering technical differences between Super-AMOLED and a regular AMOLED displays, the Super-AMOLED should have performed way better than AMOLED. On the contrary, in our tests (with full available brightness on both devices) it was not the case. In fact Super-AMOLED and AMOLED were almost equally showing their strengths in room light (indoor) and when tested outdoor under direct sunlight, the AMOLED display in Nokia N8 was performing very well even though it was having high reflectance ratio than the Super-AMOLED in Samsung’s Galaxy S. The reflectance ratio in Galaxy S display was very low.
Not speaking a lot here as the pictures and video will give you some better idea below.
All pictures and a video were captured after setting the brightness to full on both devices.
Of course Samsung Galaxy S has been equipped with a Super-AMOLED display, so is delivering very high contrast ratio which is resulting in very sharp image with brighter colors. But Nokia N8, having a regular AMOLED display, performed almost equally. However there are many devices which has been equipped with AMOLED display but Nokia N8 surprisingly has given competitive display results. So that it has been comparable with a display like Super-AMOLED.
Again as the Super-AMOLED display is supposed to give the best results in direct sunlight as having very low reflectance ratio. Yes it does have very low reflectance ratio in outdoors comparatively but just look at the output of display of both devices. I’ll say that Nokia has done a very good job designing N8 which is providing very good results outside with its AMOLED display.
Video always can satisfy more than a still picture could do. Just watch it and see how the both devices performed outdoor.
Well Nokia really did a good job coating and designing Nokia N8 to make it a perfect device with its outlook. The points will also be going to Nokia N8 due to its capability of performing very well in different surroundings when compared to Galaxy S which was having the best display out there – the Super-AMOLED. Well Galaxy S does deliver the display results what it is supposed to deliver.
