Dropian: A Dropbox Client for Symbian and MeeGo

Well Dropbox still doesn’t have an official mobile application for Symbian or MeeGo but like a few third party developers, knobtviker has also brought a new app which interacts with Dropbox API and provide a solution for Symbian and MeeGo users. New Dropian mobile application by knobtviker is based on Qt platform and is now available for Symbian^3, Symbian Anna, and Symbian Belle as well as for MeeGo. A version specially compiled on Qt 4.6.3 is also available for Series 60 5th and 3rd edition devices.

Previously another Qt based Dropbox client was arrived with the name of CuteBox but I guess this Dropbox client is currently the best client among others in Symbian with the following functions and features

What is best in it is that like many apps with secure linking to the service, you provide your account credentials (login/password) at the Dropbox web page (embedded in the client) and the Dropian client is linked with your account securely without providing any detail to Dropian client.

Features and Functions:

  • Files and folder caching using a secure database.
  • You can move, copy, delete, rename, download and upload single or multiple files simultaneously.
  • Sharing files or folders via SMS or e-mail
  • Thumbnails gallery
  • Restore or stream your files from your Dropbox
  • Split-screen keyboard.
With above features the whole navigation is pretty fast and easy along with the search function which allows user to search within your account as well as in entire Dropbox.

Dropian, for now, is listed only for MeeGo devices at the Nokia Store

We have direct links for Symbian^3, Anna, Belle and earlier S60 devices
