Microsoft Lync available for Windows Phone and Android: Soon to reach iOS and Symbian

Microsoft Lync 2010 extends the power of Lync to your mobile device – including rich presence, instant messaging, audio conferencing, and calling features from a single, easy-to-use interface.

BJ Haberkorn – Lync group product manager, at TechNet blog post, announced that the Microsoft Lync 2010 for Windows Phone has been made available in the Marketplace while in addition other platforms will also be benefited as the Lync 2010 client has also been developed and submitted for Android, iOS and Symbian.

We first showed an early beta of our Lync 2010 mobile clients at Enterprise Connect earlier this year, sharing our vision for how these clients would extend the capabilities of Lync beyond the desktop. I’m thrilled to announce that Lync 2010 for Windows Phone is now available for download via Windows Marketplace and that Lync 2010 clients for iPhone, iPad, Android, and Nokia Symbian have been submitted for approval to their respective app stores.

Well it’s fortunate for Android users also that the Microsoft Lync 2010 has already been approved and is available for download at Android Market.

Earlier in September Nokia released a press document stating “Nokia and Microsoft will now ship serious productivity and business apps to Symbian Belle smartphones by the end of year 2011”. Well it is nearly the end of 2011 and the statement above now seems to be accurate to its credibility unlike the promise about Symbian Belle to reach existing devices.

Well if Lync for Symbian gets approval before the year ends, then this also can be presumed that the Lync will first reach Symbian Belle powered devices released this year including Nokia 700, 701 and 603 but not the early Symbian^3 devices as those early devices are now delayed to get Symbian Belle for January 2012.
