It’s no surprise to Symbian users that Microsoft Apps (Business Apps) were coming their way when Nokia officially announced back in September 2011. Q1 was the suggested period of 2012 when these apps were to start reaching after the users have been updated to Nokia Belle OS. It’s great that Nokia fulfilled its promise and now when Belle OS update has been available since the first week of this month, Microsoft Apps have now started rolling out to the devices which have been updated to Nokia Belle OS.
Microsoft Apps are now available for Nokia E7, Nokia C7, Nokia C6-01, Nokia X7, Nokia Oro, Nokia 700, Nokia 701, Nokia 603 just right now. Without disclosing any specific reason Nokia N8, Nokia E6 and Nokia 500 will receive these apps in later roll-out phase. These apps will be delivered to the devices over the air (OTA). If you are having any of the devices listed above and running Nokia Belle, you should receive a software update notification or check manually in the “Software Update App” in your phone.
This roll-out is bringing the bundle of apps which were promised to be in the first instalment of Microsoft Apps. The bundle includes Microsoft OneNote, Microsoft Document Connection, Microsoft Lync 2010 Mobile, Microsoft PowerPoint Broadcast – This is worth noting that these apps are also available on other platforms.
In addition to the announcement, Nokia has promised to bring the next instalment of Microsoft Apps in coming months. For extent, Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint will be added as native applications in a smartphone, for the very first time out of the Microsoft’s own platforms.
