Google+ SMS Support expands to 41 more countries including Pakistan

Google+ SMS Support expands
41 countries added

If you are a Google+ user then you probably might have taken a rounds to your Google+ settings page to see if your country is supported for SMS notifications and updates. Well yes! I sure did a couple of times since the days when I signed up and always saw two countries only “United States” and “India” when I used to turn back from the settings page. For the sake of information, initially Google+ SMS support was provided to only these two countries. But recently a good news by Google India was spotted that the expansion of service has been made and now SMS support is being provided to 41 new countries. —-countries listed after the break—

Moreover, the list of 41 countries does contain “Pakistan” making the support available to us in Pakistan. Google has in fact provided the SMS support in Pakistan for various other services (e.g. 2-step verification) which actually was one of the reasons that I expected the Google+ SMS support will be available for Pakistan soon. And it comes now. I believe there is still a strength of Google+ users in Pakistan who would like to have it activated if they want quick notifications.

Note that as for now Google+ SMS support is available for one carrier only in Pakistan that is “Mobilink”. There is no clue “if” or “when” the service will be available for other carriers in Pakistan. (supported countries and carriers)

How to Get Started

  1. You can simply go to your Google+ settings page.
  2. Set up, in Notification delivery, your phone number and wait for verification code on your mobile phone.
  3. Once the verification code received, enter it in the box provided.
“Send verification code” button will be disappeared once clicked, and a box will be provided

Google+ SMS support is now available in following new 41 countries:

Afghanistan, Algeria, Angola, Bahrain, Benin, Cambodia, Cameroon, Congo (DRC), Cote D’Ivoire, Egypt, Ghana, Guinea, Indonesia, Iraq, Israel, Jordan, Kazakhstan, Kenya, Kuwait, Kyrgyzstan, Liberia, Malawi, Malaysia, Maldives, Morocco, Mozambique, Niger, Nigeria, Pakistan, Philippines, Saudi Arabia, Senegal, Sierra Leone, Sri Lanka, Tanzania, Thailand, Tunisia, Uganda, Uzbekistan, Vietnam and Zambia.

SMS commands are available: in English, French, Spanish, Portuguese, Arabic, Hebrew, Swahili, Indonesian, and Thai.
