Unlock Nokia Lumia 800 and Lumia 710 and Possibility of Custom/Unlocked ROMs

Interop Unlock for
Nokia Lumia 800 and Lumia 710

Recently discovered flaw to achieve NAND access and Interop Unlock on Nokia Lumia 800 and Lumia 710 directly leads to the possibility of flashing Unlocked/Custom ROM on the these devices. But only if you are luckily having a Lumia 800 with stock Qualcomm Bootloader as downgrading isn’t yet possible. However Lumia 710 owners will be able to unlock their devices easily after downgrading to Qualcomm Bootloader.

The fact tells that the stock Qualcomm Bootloader gives full access to the NAND memory of these devices exposing it to read/write anything from/to the memory. What you will need actually to see is check your device’s bootloader if it’s Qualcomm’s one and if it is, then you are one of the lucky Lumia owners who can flash their devices with unlcoked ROMs.

To simply check if your Nokia Lumia 800 is having Qualcomm’s bootloader, Turn the phone OFF, then press and hold VOLUME UP + POWER until it vibrates then connect it to the computer. If the phone turns on in “USB Storage Mode”, then you have an unlocked Qualcomm’s bootloader – Windows PCs will report you to format the disk, Just don’t do that. If the device detected by the computer as “Nokia DLOAD” then you are out of luck and your Lumia 800 is having an locked bootloader and unfortunately you can not downgrade to Qualcomm’s unlocked bootloader. Note that Lumia 710 can be downgraded to Qualcomm’s unlocked bootloader.

Surprising fact is that Android bootloader is already there for Lumia devices. What does it tell? Will see what it brings to Lumia devices.
