Microsoft Surface Revealed for
Windows RT and Windows 8 Pro

Microsoft was all set to announce some major thing on its June 18 mysterious event which mostly speculated about its new Windows 8 tablets. Most of the focus was set to the company’s own branded tablet to compete the Apple’s iPad. Well that went true. Microsoft has revealed a new tablet called “Surface”. We know there were some leaked images of documents claiming some thing about Xbox Surface but this new Microsoft Surface is not related to Xbox in any way but it’s a mobile tablet device that comes with two major accessories – the Kickstand and the pressure sensitive Touch Cover Keyboard.

Surface comes with an integrated Kickstand and a 3mm thin, pressure sensitive cover that doubles as a fully functioning keyboard and track pad. The Touch Cover connects to the Surface with a single magnetic click.

Who is it for?

If you are wondering who will use the Surface and who is it for? then of course Windows RT version of the Surface is not more than just a tablet like other in the market the iPad and Android Tablets as it will be running on ARM based processor. But Windows 8 version of the Surface is powered by Intel Core i5 Ivy Bridge and is going to stand out with the new Intel Ultrabooks.

So how much will it cost?

Microsoft said at its event that Surface would have a price “comparable” with current tablets in the market and as well comparable with the new Intel Ultrabooks. So if you try and imagine the prices of current tablets and Ultrabooks in the market then you will see that the price will be around $450 for Windows RT version of Surface and $950 for Windows 8 Pro version of Surface.

Windows RT version of Surface is a little heavier than the new iPad (652 g) while the Surface is slimmer by 1mm being 9.3mm. new iPad is 9.4mm.
