Nokia releases Glance Background Beta for Lumia Windows Phones

Glance Background Beta: Nokia keeps bringing Symbian features to Lumia family

Nokia Beta Labs has released Glance Background to support Glance Screen on Lumia Windows Phones with the new feature that adds background to your standby screen. Yes! the Glance Screen, which added a big clock with other few info icons initially can now put a background on the back.

Well! if you have been a Nokia Symbian user since its days, you would know that it’s the same as Nokia Sleeping Screen. Nokia does seem to be working on things to bring on to Windows Phones which its users have appreciated.

Look at the following screens. Glance Screen comes under the “Settings” interface with other options, however the new Glance Background is installed as an applications which is a hurdle for now and not being supposed to be the same after its alpha release if it does graduate from Beta Labs. You can choose from a few pre-bundled backgrounds as well as add more backgrounds with a few editable options.

Battery consumption is the major issue with this kind of feature. As a stand by screen turns off every thing and brings you a black screen, it is supposed to conserve battery. With Glance Screen and Glance Background Nokia also tried to keep the things as simple on the standby screen with low-bit colors. You can change the effect on background images and then change the color between a few ones.

While no other smartphone currently does that for a various other reason – most importantly the battery consumption. The feature has always been welcomed on Symbian platform and is being respected on the Windows Phone as well. It sure is yet to see what performance it will give on the Windows Phone OS.

Why not try yourself? Get your compatible Nokia Lumia smartphone and scan over the following QR code to directly reach Windows Phone store to download and install Glance Background beta to your device. Alternatively, you can visit Nokia BetaLabs and follow instructions and get more details as well as you can join forums to give your opinion about the app.
