Tutorial – Nokia Treasure Tag not pairing [Fixed]

Nokia Treasure Tag was launched in Pakistan during an event in Dubai. Nokia Treasure Tag lets you know when you get far from your important things – for example your keys or handbag. It notifies your phone through a dedicated application when your belongings are left behind. “Attach the Nokia Treasure Tag to your belongings and it alerts you when you are about to leave them behind.”

I have used that tag with another Lumia device before with no issue. But recently when I had to pair it with the Lumia 930, it failed. After trying a lot on the device by removing the application and restarting the device multiple times, it didn’t help. Once studying the user guide of the Treasure Tag, I found that it can be reset to factory defaults. So that hinted, if the device, previously paired with the tag, may be conflicted in the process of pairing with another device. Simple resetting the Treasure Tag fixed the issue and I could be able to pair it with the new device Lumia 930.

Simple Steps to Reset Treasure Tag

  1. Open the back cover of the Treasure Tag with the help of a hard pin.
  2. Remove the battery from the tag.
  3. Now while pressing the multifunction key, replace in the battery back.

The tag will be restored to its factory settings. You may also remove your sensor from the connected phone to restore the factory settings and start over the pairing process again. Other possible ways may also help in restoring to factory settings.

Pair Treasure Tag with a Lumia smartphone

Just in case, if you are wondering how to pair.

  1. You need to install Treasure Tag app first from Windows Phone Store on your supported Lumia device.
  2. If your Lumia device has NFC support, then you just need to tap your device on the Treasure Tag’s “nfc” logo. The pairing will be completed and the tag will be added to your Lumia device.
  3. If your Lumia device does not have NFC support then you need to turn-on the Treasure Tag by holding down the multifunction key on the Tag until you hear a long sound (a short sound will turn it off, you can try a couple of times to know which is long and which is short). Now turn on the Bluetooth on your Lumia device and pair it with the Tag manually. Then you can start the process in the treasure tag app on the device.

I just thought to share it with you guys so please let us know if this helped you in any way and give your feedback in the comments below.
