The Nokia Store is no more – Get content from Opera Mobile Store

Well, we knew that it’s coming after the Microsoft – Nokia acquisition. Nokia Store had already closed taking apps submissions for more than a year ago, while in a recent months users were taking notice on the splash screen of the Nokia Store that soon it will moved on to Opera Store. Now it’s all over.

Opening the Nokia Store app on any Symbian devices will now redirect the users on the web browser with the Opera Mobile Store. The dedicated web URLs will be noticeable with the device name and model as shown in the screenshots above the device running the Opera Mobile Store is the Nokia N8.

It’s So far, the content seems to be free regardless of their sections apart as popular, new or free. There are no words if it will be like that on wards or there will be payments coming later. There is also a point to be noted that if they will be keeping your purchase history with Nokia, which is very unlikely. So your capability of re-downloading your purchased apps is most probably on risk. However those apps can easily be downloaded from other sources as well.

As with a new Opera Mobile Browser, users will be downloading the Symbian install-able SIS/SISx format files and running the installer on the system which will not be a silent install of course.

These, of course, are final phases of Nokia devices loosing their connection to their original manufacturer which had been there for decades providing their services to the customers which could have been good or bad at the same time for different customers around the globe. But it’s what has been written two years ago so it’s the end of an era.
