Microsoft launches MS-DOS Mobile

Reminding the old days, today Microsoft has launched MS-DOS Mobile, a new operating system designed for Lumia smartphones. After serving on millions of desktop computers and staying quite for more than decades, MS-DOS is coming back up again to serve on Lumia smartphones.

Now you can install it on your Lumia smartphone as in the video below. “Black and white text has never looked so good,” says Tom Messett from Microsoft Lumia Marketing in the introductory video. You should watch the video to have a glimpse how does the MS-DOS will appear on your Lumia smartphone.

With the basics of MS-DOS Mobile, the user can type commands to the prompt to access files and folders via an on-screen keyboard, just like you would normally use. For examples such commands are “cd programs”, “dir”, etc.

You can even open camera app by typing executable “camera.exe” on the command prompt in the old traditional way. The whole new camera has three modes: ASCII mode, B&W mode and CGA mode. You can also share photos on to go.

Tom Messett also said:

“MS-DOS Mobile allows us to look proudly back, while at the same time moving us defiantly forwards.”

“It’s simple, effective productivity re-imagined through the medium of DOS. “

Now if you have started thinking and complaining, what Microsoft has made and for what they actually made it. Recall today’s date, it’s April 1, the April Fools Day. Right! So Microsoft has made you. But it’s not it. You really should go ahead and download the app to experience it yourself. Watch the video again to excite.

Download MS-DOS Mobile for Windows Phone.

Do tell us below if you have made someone else, the April Fool and how did you.
