Android 5.1 Lollipop for Infinix Hot Note X551 – beta available now

Everyone there having Infinix Hot Note X551, get ready to have Android 5.1 Lollipop on your hot devices as it’s available now to download and flash on your devices. It’s in the beta stage yet so do not expect everything from this build. Final build is promised at the end of August.

Recently launched in Pakistan, Infinix Hot Note X551 attracted many in the market locally. We also got a chance to review this device. With its low price tag and features, where we liked the device for some factors, there were also some we had reservations with and one of them was the the doubt as if there will be any OS update to this device.

But It looks Infinix Mobility is working hard to give their consumers after sales support. They are listening to their customers and trying to bring what they need via a forum which is pretty busy with their consumer base.

Things to note:

First of all note that the software update is not over the air (OTA) and you have to flash it manually with the provided flash utility. Also make sure it’s not a final build so you must not update if you want your phone in fully working condition. Such builds are meant to be for enthusiasts and advanced users who want to experiment with their devices.

Before proceeding, be warned of the following feedback from the users who have tried with this software update.

Power Saving Modes are missing.
Camera resolution limited to 4 MP and 1 MP.
Music App is missing
Task Manager has fever options.
No Wallpaper.
User interface is more like AOSP.
Notebook app is missing
Battery percentage missing.
RAM management has fever information.

There may be more but as informed before, OTA is not yet present for this update nor promised for later updates. However you can update your Infinix Hot Note (Only X551, other models are not supported) by flashing the ROM into the device via a provided flashing utility/software.
