Hands-On OPPO R7 Plus, R7 Lite, Mirror 5 – Price, Specs Side by Side and First Impressions

OPPO R7 Plus, R7 Lite and Mirror 5 – Hands-on and First Impressions from the OPPO Launch Event

OPPO has already launched its three brand new smartphones in Pakistan, R7 Plus, R7 Lite and Mirror 5 during an event held yesterday in Lahore.

Although the purpose of the event was to introduce the said smartphones to the local market in Pakistan, however there was enjoyment and entertainment taking the strings from some nonsense quiz to the music night with a number from Coke Studio 8 as well as a fashion show with a whole bunch of models walking on the ramp.

Specially the showstopper presented the OPPO smartphones hanged in her suite designed by Munib Nawaz, was probably never seen before in Pakistan during any smartphone launch.

If you missed our coverage from the event yesterday, go ahead and check out the full photo coverage here.

Or if you are interested more in the smartphones then stay here and continue as full detail of the devices with their price and specifications is listed below.

OPPO R7 Plus

OPPO R7 Plus can be considered as a lower high-end device with 6″ AMOLED display, full HD resolution of 1080p and Gorilla Glass 3. It’s a phablet with pixel density of 367ppi and approximately 76.5% screen-to-body ratio – that’s quite good giving as less blank spaces on the front side as possible, I liked it.

Breaking the trend, the “OPPO” branding is down there below the screen occupying the space which is usually left blank on many smartphones when the on-screen navigation keys are provided in the OS.

Qualcomm MSM8939 Snapdragon 615 SoC is packed inside R7 Plus with an Octa-core CPU (Quad-core 1.5Ghz and Quad-core 1.0Ghz) along with Adreno 405 GPU. 3GB of RAM is quite in now a days as well as it’s good to have this phablet packed with it. It comes with 32GB of internal storage with the option to expand via micro SD card (up to 128GB). R7 Plus is the dual SIM phone with one nano and the other micro SIM slot. Micro SD card can not be used when both the SIM cards are in use because the micro SD card slot uses the 2nd SIM slot.

R7 Plus comes with a 13 megapixel main camera and 8 MP front facing camera. Main camera also features a dual LED flash and laser auto focus. It can record 1080p video at up to 60fps and 720p video at up to 120fps. It runs on Android 5.1 Lollipop with OPPO’s ColorOS 2.1 on top of it. Fingerprint sensor is also featured in the R7 Plus. — Full Specifications after the break

R7 Plus is available in Golden and Silver colors. It’s priced at Rs 39,990/- in Pakistan which is said to be the lowest price of the phone globally.

OPPO R7 Lite

The little version of the OPPO R7 is here with the name “Lite”. R7 Lite is most probably a mid-range device with 5″ AMOLED display, HD resolution of 720p and Gorilla Glass 3. With pixel density of 294ppi and approximately 68% screen-to-body ratio, it’s much similar to most of the smartphone designs out there.

Unlike its bigger counter part, the R7 Lite comes with physical capacitive navigation keys below the screen.

R7 Lite is also powered up with the same chipset as of R7 Plus, Qualcomm MSM8939 Snapdragon 615 SoC with an Octa-core CPU (Quad-core 1.5Ghz and Quad-core 1.0Ghz) along with Adreno 405 GPU.

RAM comes down to 2GB in R7 Lite which should be better. It comes with 16GB of internal storage with the option to expand via micro SD card (up to 128GB). R7 Lite is a dual SIM phone with one nano and the other micro SIM slot. Micro SD card can not be used when both the SIM cards are in use – just like R7 Plus.

R7 Lite also features a 13 megapixel main camera with LED flash and phase detection auto focus. It can record 1080p video at 30fps. On the front there’s an 8 MP camera. It runs on Android 5.1 Lollipop with OPPO’s ColorOS 2.1 on top of it. — Full Specifications after the break

R7 Lite will be available in Golden and Silver colors. It’s priced at Rs 29,990/- in Pakistan which is said to be the lowest price of the phone globally.

OPPO Mirror 5

OPPO Mirror 5 is also a mid-range device with 5″ IPS display, QHD resolution of (960 x 540 pixels). There is no screen protection is mentioned. With pixel density of only 220ppi and approximately 67.5% screen-to-body ratio, it also matches the design class of a few others from OPPO.

The phone will be powered up by Snapdragon 410 chipset with a Quad-core 1.2 GHz CPU and Adreno 306 GPU on board. It’s packed up with 2GB of RAM as well as 16GB of internal storage with micros SD card support they same way as R7 Lite.

Mirror 5 features an 8MP camera on the back with auto focus and LED flash. There’s a 5MP camera on the front. It, as well, runs on Android 5.1 Lollipop. The back of the Mirror 5 is designed with individual cut-glass sections giving a diamond-like mirrored surface. — Full Specifications after the break

Mirror 5 will be available in Ivory White and Midnight Blue colors. It’s priced right at Rs 29,990/- in Pakistan. That’s where you instinctively point the flaw as the company is selling R7 Lite with better hardware and premium design in the exactly same price.

    • it's only a hands-on and first impressions - given with each device above... we'll see if we'd do a review of any of these devices to have a final conclusion or verdict. Thank you for your interest @FrankOuterwood:disqus it's appreciated

      • By conclusion, I meant what are your initial thoughts about these models and their market strategy? Will Oppo be able to make a mark in Pakistan's smartphone market? Considering the ever so fast growing local brands and the bigger Chinese players like Huawei and Lenovo concentrating with full attention?
