Samsung Z3 – Tizen continues to live in another low-end smartphone

An open-source platform from Samsung, Tizen seems to be ready to roll around. Following the Samsung Z1 and Gear S2 smartwatch, another smartphone, Samsung Z3 has been launched for in Indian markets for INR 8490 (roughly PKR 13500.)

Samsung Z3 features a 5-inch Super AMOLED display with 720p HD resolution along with an 8 megapixel camera on the back with LED flash and f/2.2 aperture lens. On the front there is a 5 MP camera also with f/2.2 lens. Front-camera offers ‘Automatic Selfie’ with facial recognition and ‘Beauty Face Mode’ that automatically retouches images for flawless skin and ‘Wide Selfie’ to capture up to 120 degrees of the users’ surroundings for the perfect group selfie shot.

The Samsung Z3 supports a 2,600mAh battery along side the ‘Ultra Power Saving Mode,’ which allows users to operate on standby for up to 33 hours with less than 10 percent of battery life. The device also features ‘Ultra Data Saving Mode,’ providing data compression and management capabilities for up to 40 percent less mobile data usage.

In addition to 5 inch display, Z3 supports 3G networks and is powered by 1.3 GHz Quad-core processor and 1GB of RAM along with 8 GB of internal storage with option to expand memory via micro SD card up to 128 GB.

As the smartphone is specially designed for the Indian market, Samsung Z3 comes preloaded with ‘My Galaxy’ app that offer consumers various exclusive services, local deals, entertainment content, continuous value on extensively used categories like recharge, travel, movies, fashion etc and post purchase assistance. The Samsung Z3 additionally features the ‘Mix Radio’ app, available exclusively for Samsung consumers. Mix Radio is the world’s most personalized free music streaming service with over 35 million songs to choose from, including extensive local catalogue of over 10 genres of Indian music.

Also note that the Samsung Z1 was not released outside of India and we are not sure if the Z3 will make it out of the Indian markets.
