Huawei’s another mobile chip, most probably an improved version of Kirin 950, has been spotted in Geekbench browser resulting with the scores 2018 and 7239 in single-core and multi-core tests respectively.

Huawei’s high-end chipset Kirin 950 chipset was announced in November last year and has been shipped into its latest flagship smartphone Huawei Mate 8. The chipset was a setup of an ARM based Octa-core processor with 4 cores of the Cortex-A72 and 4 cores of Cortex-A53 with an additional i5 (Cortex M7) co-processor.

Announced earlier than competitor’s chips, the Kirin 950 was supposed to be the fastest chip but later, Snapdragon 820 from Qualcomm and Samsung’s Exynos 8890 joined in with the chips from Apple and MediaTek. The resultant scores left out the Kirin 950 on last place among five in single-core performance. In multi-core test, the Kirin 950 stood third.

According to a recent report by GizmoChina an improved, upgraded version of Kirin 950 or a minor successor to this chip (rumored to be Kirin 955), shows a bump in numbers. With the score of 2018, the single-core performance could only crosses Helio X20 and comes 4th. As well, it jumps over Helio X20 and takes 2nd place in multi-core performance.

The mysterious device in Geekbench browser is referred as “unkown HUAWEI” as well as unknown 8 ARM processor cores clocked at 1.8GHz.

According to he system information in Geekbench report, the processor inside this chip is similar to the one inside Kirin 950 with eight (4+4) cores clocked at 1.8GHz.
