Sony Mobile Communications unveiled a new Xperia brand – named as Xperia X. The first trio of the smartphones under new brand name are Xperia X, Xperia X Performance and Xperia XA. Alongside, the company announced a wireless ear-piece – Xperia Ear and an in-car Bluetooth commander – RM-X7BT.
The new Xperia X series adds new layers of technology and improvements in department of camera, battery and design. Xperia X and Xperia X Performance are photography-centric smartphones and pack with the next generation Xperia camera that is said to take spontaneous capture allowing you to shoot in sharp focus, even for quick/unexpected moment shots.
The all-new Predictive Hybrid Autofocus in Xperia X and Xperia X Performance is developed in close collaboration with Sony’s α camera engineers, it lets you choose your subject and then predicts its motion, so you can capture the action in perfect focus, as fast as the moment is captured with no blur.
Xperia X series also features Sony’s smart battery management to deliver up to two days battery life that should keep your phone running for longer from one charge. Xperia X series benefits from Qnovo’s Adaptive Charging technology to give better battery lifespan.
Xperia X features the Hexa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 650 chip with 6 ARM processor cores while the Xperia X Performance comes with the latest high-end Quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor. The Xperia XA is the mid-range offering with MediaTek’s Helio P10 chip (MT6755) with Octa-core processor.
“Xperia X” and the “X Performance” are each featured by 3GB of RAM while the “Xperia XA” offers a 2GB RAM. The trio will feature Sony’s proprietary Exmor image sensors with 23MP+13MP Rear and Front cameras are featured in X and X Performance while the XA will feature 13MP+8MP camera sets.
Availability
All the Xperia X, Xperia X Performance and Xperia XA will be available in four colors including White, Graphite Black, Lime Gold and Rose Gold. All three of them will go on sale this Summer 2016. Prices of these devices are not yet disclosed.
Xperia Ear is a next-generation wireless ear-piece that connects to your Android smartphone via NFC or Bluetooth and talks to a host application, where you can customise settings, including the info you need when you first connect in the morning, touch commands and app notifications.
Its lightweight and comfortable soft silicone ear-bud is built for continuous wear, with IPX2 water-protection and all-day battery life3. It’s available in Graphite Black and the innovative case doubles as a charger, so you can simply pop it in when you need to recharge.
Xperia Ear will also roll out from Summer 2016.
RM-X7BT, the in-car Bluetooth commander will enable wireless music streaming and will use Sony’s voice technology to activate smartphone functions whilst driving. It consists of two units – an “adaptor module” that enables wireless audio streaming and hands-free calls, and a “commander” facilitates smartphone functions such as navigation, all whilst driving safely.
