Telenor and Samsung, in collaboration, launched Galaxy S7 and S7 edge yesterday in Pakistan where the President Samsung Electronics Pakistan, Jae Hwan Lee demonstrated the water-resistant capability of the newly launched Galaxy devices.
Samsung Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge are built with a new water and dust resistant design, with an IP68 rating. According to verizon, both the phones are capable to function normally when submerged in up to 5 feet of water for up to 30 minutes.
Well the term “water resistance” is used by the companies to just be secure from abuse or fail cases. So these new Galaxy S7 and S7 edge are not “water proof” exactly and may suffer damages within or beyond the resistance limit as quoted by the Korean smartphone maker.

In numbers, IP68 protection rating is earned when a device resists water in more than 1 meter for 30 minutes. If you are curious to know how does it stand, then perhaps you may do a torture test under over 1 meter of water to see if that IP68 certification was perfectly labeled.
