Vivo Xplay5 Ultimate – Official with a whopping 6GB of RAM

The world’s first smartphone featuring 6GB of RAM

Chinese smartphones have been considered cheap around the world but it’s really them who are gaining all the attention with their highly powered products. Let alone the companies like Huawei and Xiaomi, now Vivo has launched two smartphones, Xplay 5 and the Xplay 5 Elite which offer 4GB and 6GB RAM respectively.

Vivo Xplay 5 is the base model with 4GB RAM along side the Snapdragon 652 chipset which offers an Octa-core processor. On the other hand the Xplay 5 Ultimate (aka Xplay 5s or Xplay 5 Elite) offers a whopping 6GB RAM which is now world’s first in any smartphone. Along side it offers the latest Qualcomm flagship Snapdragon 820 chipset with a quad-core processor.

Both the smartphone offer pretty much same in every aspect. However in addition to the RAM and processor, the base model Xplay 5 will run Android 5.1 Lollipop with Funtouch OS 2.5.1 while the Ultimate model will be featuring the latest Android 6.0 Marshmallow with Funtouch OS 2.6.

Coming to other specifications of the Xplay 5 and its Ultimate variant, they both are packed with 128GB of internal storage with no expandable memory. Both feature 5.43 inch QHD Super AMOLED display with the resolution of 2560×1440 pixels. The Corning Gorilla Glass 4 is protecting the front panel. Both the phones offer 16 megapixels rear camera with dual-LED flash and 4K video recording. 8 megapixels front facing camera for selfies and video calling.

Xplay 5 smartphones are dual-SIM capable and feature a fingerprint sensor while also offer connectivity at 4G/LTE, 3G, and GSM. Other connectivity options include Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.2, USB 2.0 and GPS with . The phone is powered by 3600mAh battery

The company has priced the base model Vivo Xplay 5 at CNY ¥3,698 (~$565) while the Ultimate Edition with 6GB RAM is priced at CNY ¥4,288 (~$660.) There are no words about global availability yet.
