Huawei’s latest Honor flagship, the V8 has been labeled the first smartphone to offer QHD resolution of 2560 x 1440 pixels under its brand name.
Sure Huawei has made Nexus 6P for Google that also carried the QHD resolution but with Honor V8 (or Huawei V8) the company has decided itself to bring the higher resolution to their smartphones. It also hints that the company’s next high-end smartphones may offer the same display resolutions.
The V8 isn’t just another affordable smartphone. It carries a lot like a high-end smartphone would do. It takes the dual-camera system from Huawei P9, offers a bigger screen with higher resolution, also sports a fingerprint scanner. That all in a metal body.
Huawei Honor V8 will come in three variants – a premium model, a mid-range, and a low-end model, costing around $430, $380, and $350 respectively. Interesting they only differ at a very few components and are vastly similar.
Common features in Honor V8 models include a 4GB of RAM, a 5.7″ display, a 12 megapixel dual-camera system on the back, an 8 megapixel wide-angle f/2.4 front facing camera, a fingerprint scanner, dual SIM support, microSD card support, a 3,500mAh battery, fast charging, and Android 6.0 Marshmallow with Emotion UI.
Costing at 2799 yuan (or PKR 45,000/- or USD 430) the top model will be featuring a QHD display with resolution of 2560 x 1440 pixels. It will be powered by Kirin 955 SoC with 2.5GHz Octa-core processor (4x Cortex-A72 + 4x Cortex-A53). The most expensive V8 features 64GB of internal storage and has NFC support.
This model will cost 2499 yuan (or PKR 40,000/- or USD 380) and will feature an FHD display with resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels. Running on Kirin 950 SoC with 2.3GHz Octa-core processor, this model will have expanded network support and will feature 32GB of internal storage. This model also has NFC support.
The low-end model costs 2299 yuan (or PKR 36,000/- or USD 350) and also features an FHD display with resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels. This model is also powered by the same Kirin 950 with 2.3GHz processor as mid-range but it doesn’t have expanded network support. It also features 32GB of internal storage. Low-end model doesn’t feature NFC.
Available in Ceramic White, Platinum Silver, Rose Gold, Campaign Gold, Ice Silver, and Gray colors, the Honor V8 is expected to be released in China on May 17th.
