Samsung Galaxy Note 7 Officially Unveiled, available from August 19th

Samsung has officially announced the next flagship phablet Galaxy Note 7 in Unpacked 2016 event in New York. The Galaxy Note 7 will go on sale in August 19th while the pre-orders start today in United States.

“The Intelligent Smartphone That Thinks Big” is what the Korean smartphone maker calls the Galaxy Note 7. “Samsung Electronics continues to drive the smartphone market with the Galaxy Note7 by building on the company’s category-defining leadership with innovative features that set a new standard for large-screen devices.” – states press release.

Samsung Galaxy Note 7 comes with a bunch of new features including a rumored iris scanner in addition to the fingerprint scanner for security. The phablet and its S Pen, both are water and dust resistant. The iris recognition will also be used for secure purchases through Samsung Pay.

Samsung Knox security now supports securing and separating content on the smartphone with Secure Folder. The Samsung Pass feature in Galaxy Note 7 will bring iris and fingerprint authentication to more apps and services.

Galaxy Note7 will give 15GB of free space to store and restore information on Samsung Cloud.

Galaxy Note 7 Specifications

Weighing 169 grams only, the Galaxy Note 7 maintains its display size as 5.7 inch and Quad HD resolution of 2560×1440 pixels but comes with curved edges on both ends (Dual Edge). It serves at the pixel density of 518 ppi.

The smartphone is powered by an 14nm Octa-core 64bit processor and 4GB LPDDR4 RAM along with 64GB (UFS 2.0) of internal storage with option to expand up to 256GB via microSD card. The phone comes with a USB Type-C connectivity and is backed by a 3500mAh battery which can be charged with a wired or wireless connection.

As mentioned before the Note 7 features a new iris scanner in addition to fingerprint scanner, the phone comes running Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow out of the box. It comes with dual-pixel 12MP camera with f/1.7 lens aperture on the back with Smart OIS whereas the front camera is 5MP with f/1.7 lens aperture.

Along with the Galaxy Note 7, a new Gear VR is also launched that is powered by Oculus. The new Gear VR for Galaxy Note 7 is also compatible with Galaxy S7, S7 edge, Note 5, Galaxy S6, S6 edge and S6 edge+

Availability

The Galaxy Note 7 will be available starting on August 19th, and will be offered in Blue Coral, Gold Platinum, Silver Titanium and Black Onyx.
