Abandoning the long running brand name Nexus, Google has announced the new smartphone brand Pixel with two models – Pixel and Pixel XL. The important thing is that the manufacturer is the same who built the first original Android smartphone and the very first Nexus branded smartphone – HTC.
The two smartphones are identical at most with only difference of their sizes and their battery capacities. Backed up by a 2770mAh battery, Google Pixel is smaller in size carrying a 5 inch display with 1080p resolution – that’s ~441ppi while the bigger model as the name suggests, Pixel XL is packed with 3450mAh battery and features a 5.5″ display and 2560×1440 QHD resolution with pixel density of 534ppi. Both the smartphones feature AMOLED displays.
Every other thing is similar in both the devices as running the fresh Android 7.0 Nougat, Google Pixel devices are powered with Qualcomm’s improved version of their latest chipset – that’s Snapdragon 821. Both the devices are supported by 4GB of RAM and equally 32GB or 128GB of internal storage along with unlimited Google Photos storage on cloud.
Both the phones have 12MP autofocus camera on rear and 8MP camera on the front. Unlike before, the new Google Pixel devices carry only a ‘G’ – for Google branding. There is no HTC disclosure on the devices. Both the phones feature USB Type-C with 18W charger.
