3G/4G Subscribers in Pakistan reach 35.5 million – Ufone losing ground, while others gain

Recently released data by Pakistan Telecommunication Authority – PTA reveals that the mobile data subscribers in Pakistan have reached over 35 million.

The data reveals monthly rise of mobile data (3G/4G) subscribers for up to October 2016 which in numbers are 35,446,843 (~35.5 million) up from 34.3 million of September 2016 which is a decline compared to previous month.

PTA has recorded 0.5 million rise in overall mobile subscribers that reach 134.91 million subscribers by the end of October 2016, up from previous month. Half of the rise is only counted by Mobilink while Ufone saturated down with losing 0.17 million mobile subscribers.

According to the data, Ufone seems to have tough time among the competition as the telco has also shown a decrease in its data (3G) subscribers by over 0.05 million in October 2016 comparatively to the previous month.

On the other hand the operators including Mobilink gained most of the data subscribers as 0.82 million, followed by Zong/CMPak with 0.02 million 3G and 0.19 million 4G users, Telenor gained 0.12 million while Warid also gained but only 0.02 million 4G/LTE subscribers by the end of October 2016

Even though the telecom industry is showing growth but very little comparative to its previous growths. We can also notice the Ufone’s decline in customers both overall and the customers who are losing interest in their data services. This may also mean that users, having subscribed to multiple carriers, prefer to use data or internet services by other operators even if they use Ufone for their primary connectivity medium.
