3G/4G Subscribers in Pakistan reach 36.4 Million – Ufone keeps declining

According to recent data, released by Pakistan Telecommunication Authority – PTA, reveals that the mobile internet/data subscribers in Pakistan have reached over 36.4 million with approximately one million increase compared to previously recorded month.

The recent data reveals monthly rise of mobile data (3G/4G) subscribers by 2.7% in November 2016 which in numbers are 36,412,247 (~36.4 million) up from 35.5 million of October 2016. The rate of rise in numbers is decreased from 3.3% as recorded previously.

In overall mobile subscribers, PTA has recorded 0.95 million rise in November 2016 reaching 135.9 million subscribers by the end of month. Again almost half of the rise is only counted by Mobilink and Warid combined. Ufone on the other hand has once again declined with losing 0.12 million mobile subscribers.

According to the data, Ufone seems to be struggling among the competition as the telco is constantly declining in numbers and loosing customer base.

On the other hand the operators including Mobilink gained most of the data subscribers as 0.37 million, followed by Zong/CMPak, Telenor and Warid.

Even though the telecom industry is showing growth but very little comparative to its previous growths. We can also notice the Ufone’s decline in customers both overall and the customers who are losing interest in their data services. This may also mean that users, having subscribed to multiple carriers, prefer to use data or internet services by other operators even if they use Ufone for their primary connectivity medium.
