Rumors might have led you to expect a 4K display on the upcoming Galaxy S8 but Sony has revealed the contender at MWC. The new Xperia XZ Premium has exactly that Ultra HD display (aka carrying 4K, or 2160p resolution.)
Wait, the two new smartphones from Sony – Xperia XZ Premium and Xperia XZs equip with the latest proprietary image sensor IMX400 (undisclosed officially). Both can record supper slow-motion videos at a fast frame rate of 960fps – though limited at 720p resolution. 4K video recording can go up to 30fps only.
Now counted as the world’s first smartphone to carry 4K display, Xperia XZ Premium has a 5.5 inch screen. It gives you a whopping array of pixels numbered as 807 pixels per inch – the highest pixel density ever on a smartphone. The display is also rated as HDR and is protected by Gorilla Glass 5.

The same Gorilla glass is also covering the XZ Premium’s back side. Powered by the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 chip, the phone features a 64GB UFS internal storage and a 4GB of RAM. You can expand storage up to 256 GB via microSD card.
This is a smaller contender with 5.2 inch display carrying only a full HD resolution of 1920 by 1080 pixels. Snapdragon 820 is powering the phone also with 4GB of RAM. XZs, however, has 32GB or 64GB variants. But it’s only the eMMC storage also with option to expand via microSD card.
Referred to be Sony’s IMX400 Exmor RS mobile image sensor, it’s a 19 megapixel camera. “19% larger pixels to capture more light and provides exceptional detail and sharp images even in low-light and backlit conditions. Additio`nal improvements have been made inside Motion Eye™ to the Bionz™ for mobile processing engine meaning it detects moving objects more precisely to enable Predictive Capture.Clarity, detail and texture are also improved to give exceptional image quality thanks to the redesigned G lens with high optical clarity.”
Xperia XZs will start from $699, available from April 2017. Xperia XZ Premium, available from Spring 2017, is expected cost $799. After currency conversion (and before any taxes or subsidies) these prices estimate to PKR 70,000/- and PKR 84,000/- in Pakistan
