Now you can create Street View imagery with 360-degree camera for Google Maps

Google has announced new Street View ready certification standards for 360-degree cameras. In a blog post published Tuesday, the search giant said that 20 certified cameras are launching this year to facilitate the program.

The set of certified cameras will make it easier for users to capture and upload Street View imagery right the mobile device or connected computer – depending on one the Street View ready standards.

The blog stated that everyone can publish interactive and high-quality imagery in no time at all. Anyone can use certified cameras and tools — whether it’s a traveler or a professional photographer. They just need to get enrolled in Street View trusted photographer program.

Twenty Street View ready Certified Cameras

The certified cameras – launching this year, meet one of the four standards that cover: Street View Mobile Ready 360-degree cameras which can upload Street View directly through a mobile app; Auto Ready 360-degree cameras are designed for cars with highest accuracy.

The 3rd, VR Ready 360-degree cameras or devices capture geometry for connected 360 photos; and the 4th, Workflow Ready 360-degree cameras use publishing tools (bundled with cameras) to upload content to Street View accounts.

The certified cameras are currently shipped by 18 manufacturers including Samsung and GoPro for Workflow Ready cameras. While other cameras for mobile ready, auto ready, and VR ready standards will be shipped by popular manufacturers including Giroptic, Insta 360 and Matterport respectively.

Other manufacturers include NCTech Ltd, 360Fly, KenXen, Sphericam, Z CAM, InsideMaps, HumanEyes Tech, iGuide, GoThru, Garden Gnome and Panoskin/LCP360.
