WhatsApp is in process of introducing a feature that will allow you to watch YouTube videos directly within the chat screen instead of switching to the YouTube app separately.
The feature which is currently available to beta testers that enables playback of YouTube videos as picture-in-picture (PiP). The playback also features pinch-to-zoom, full-screen view, or hide the playback and continue on the chat window.
With a limitation, the playback will only stay along the relevant chat window from where the payback was initiated. If you switch to other chat, the playback will automatically stop.
Another thing is that only iOS users will first be facilitated with this functionality as the feature is currently only available on Apple iOS devices. In addition only the iPhone 6 and later versions will be eligible for the feature.
There is no words if the feature is being tested on Android and Windows Mobile devices. However the latest WhatsApp beta on Android doesn’t have the said feature. On the other hand, iOS users will be able get the WhatsApp’s new in-app YouTube playback soon when available on App Store.
