Infinix has a good reputation in its software support for a couple of its devices currently in market. The company has provided up to Android 7.1 Nougat software update to its low-end Infinix Hot 4 smartphone. But old models have some less support than the newer ones.
Where Infinix Note 3 and other of its variants is being supported with official Android 7 software update, the predecessor Infinix Note 2 has been left on Android 6 Marshmallow. But thanks to developer vicatz of xclub, Like in the past, he has been working on porting the custom ROMs like Validus and LineageOS based on Android 7 (N6F26U of Nexus 6, NOF26W of Pixel respectively) for Infinix Note 2 device.
Vicatz released, last month, a port of the LineageOS 14.1 based on Android 7.1.2 (NJH47D of Pixel) for the Infinix Note 2 X600. I just got some time have my hands on with it when I took out the device from the drawer today. I think, people must be wondering if they could have the latest software on their Infinix Note 2. So here are the step by step guide down below.
Note: This method worked with TWRP recovery on Infinix Note 2 running stock Android 6 Marshmallow.
Now that assuming you have everything as required, you have taken backup of your important data, you have noted down the warnings and you are ready to proceed with the process, you can follow the steps below to install LineageOS 14.1 Android 7.1.2 on your Infinix Note 2.
Note: LineageOS / Android 7.1.2 should now be installed with Google Apps on your Infinix Note 2. But if you have B1 variant of Infinix Note 2, you must apply the B1 patch by installing it exactly like you installed the ROM and GApps. Do not wipe anything now.
That’s it, you should have the LineageOS 14.1 based on Android 7.1.2 Nougat running on your Infinix Note 2 smartphone. Only for reference, you can watch the video below that demonstrates updating Infinix Note 2 to CM13, with the same TWRP recovery, in exactly the same order. Watch it but use the files (firmware/ROM and patch) from this page.
