HMD Global brings a new entrant in its Nokia Android line-up filling the gap for various markets. Nokia 7 is the is the first smartphone from the company to wear a glass back panel. Right now, only announced in China.
Nokia 7 is built with a vacuum molded 3D Corning Gorilla Glass construction. The frame is 7000 series aluminum with diamond cut beveled edges. Not a high-end figure but indeed looks premium with its build construction.
The newly launched Nokia devices comes with IP54 certification, which isn’t purely dust or water resistant but it’s splash-proof. Nokia 7 is powered by the mid-range Qualcomm Snapdragon 630 mobile platform. Along with, it comes in two variants – with 4GB or 6GB of RAM, both with a single storage option – 64GB — microSD card is supported up to 256GB.
Nokia 7 is more compact with minimal size and 5.2″ IPS LCD display with Gorilla Glass 3 on top. The resolution is full HD at 1920×1080 pixels with pixel density of around 424ppi.
Interestingly the Nokia 7 also feature Carl ZEISS optics on the main camera which is 16 MP. ZEISS lens features f/1.8 aperture whereas the the image sensor contains an array of 1.12µm sized pixels. Along side there a dual-tone LED flash as well. There’s a 5 MP front camera with larger 1.4µm pixels for selfies and an 84-degree field-of-view with f/2.0 aperture lens.
In addition to Zeiss optics, Nokia 8’s “bothies” feature also comes with Nokia 7 as a “dual vision mode” — a split screen photos and videos from both front and rear cameras simultaneously. Nokia 7 supports up to 4K video recording at 30fps and Nokia OZO audio.
Nokia 7 runs Android 7.1.1 Nougat (sure with an Oreo update coming up) and is backed up by a 3,000 mAh battery. The phone supports 18W fast charging as well but such a charger might not included into retail package. Other features include 4G LTE Cat.6. Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth 5.0, USB Type-C, a 3.5mm headset jack, GPS and NFC. The difference is that Nokia 7 only has capacitive keys below the screen while the fingerprint sensor is moved to back which is my personal favorite.
Nokia 7 will be available in China on October 24 for CNY 2,499 (approximately $377 or €320) with 4GB of RAM, and CNY 2,699 (approx $407 or €345) with 6GB. It will come in to color options of Gloss Black and Matte White.
Both prices make around PKR 39,800/- and PKR 42,900/- in Pakistan respectively for Nokia 7 4GB and 6GB variants. However there is no information about when the Nokia 7 will reach other markets including Pakistan.
