Vivo X20 Plus UD official with world’s first under-display fingerprint sensor

Following a dozen rumors, speculations and leaks, world’s first smartphone with under-display fingerprint scanner is now here. Vivo, first having the phone unveiled at the CES 2018, has now officially announced Vivo X20 Plus UD.

Vivo’s new X20 Plus UD features Synaptics’ Clear ID FS9500 optical in-display fingerprint sensor. The phone has an AMOLED display as a basic need for Clear ID to work.

This fingerprint sensor is completely hidden underneath the display. The system will provide a specially designed user interface with an on-screen fingerprint graphic.

If you hadn’t noted earlier, this fingerprint sensor is placed between the main board of the phone and the display panel. It scans your fingerprint through the gaps in the pixels on an OLED display. For more details, you can checkout here.

Vivo X20 Plus UD Features

With the recent official launch of the X20 Plus UD, we know that the phone features a 6.43-inch screen. The AMOLED display serves at FullHD+ resolution of 2160×1080 pixels across on 18:9 aspect ratio.

The phone runs on a Qualcomm’s octa-core processor with eight Kryo cores (4x 2.2GHz and 4x 1.8GHz). In addition to the Snapdragon 660 mobile platform, the phone packs with 4GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. Additionally you can use microSD card to expand storage.

The X20 Plus UD has a dual camera on the back with a 12MP and 5MP pair. Vivo has mentioned the rear camera as 2x12MP (or 24 million photosensitive unit). On the front, there is also a same 12MP camera unit which the company menions as 24 million photosensitive unit.

Unfortunately, this mid-range smartphone still runs Android 7.1 Nougat operating system. However the phone has a backup of 3905 mAh battery power. The phone features 4G/LTE connectivity with dual-band WiFi, Bluetooth 5.0, and USB 2.0. No USB Type-C either.
