Android Enterprise Recommended – Google wants firms to buy Android

Google has launched “Android Enterprise Recommended” – a new program for businesses and companies to convince them about a select smartphones which they can trust for their organisation.

Due to the fact of over a billion smartphones running in the wild, Google has brought to its enterprise customers including companies and organisations, the program through which they can trust the most secure and reliable phone.

In the program, Google will thoroughly test the Android powered phones and add into the list of “Validated by Google” list of phones under the program. Devices will have to meet a standard set by Google that include hardware, deployment, security updates, and user experience. Everything that could help companies in their business environments.

Google has published an initial list of devices that meet the said standard and requirements. The list includes its own branded devices Pixel, Pixel XL, Pixel 2, and Pixel 2 XL. The list is quite long with several other devices from multiple manufacturers. BlackBerry KeyOne and Motion, Huawei Mate 10, Mate 10 Pro, P10, P10 Plus, P10 Lite, and P smart, LG V30 and G6, Motorola X4 and Z2, Nokia 8, Sony Xperia XZ1, XZ1 Compact, XZ Premium, XA2, and XA2 Ultra.

Requirements for Devices

A device must run Android 7.0 or later operating system, support bulk deployment including zero-touch enrollment to setup work device. A device must deliver security update within 90 days of release from Google for up to three years. The phone must be available to buy easily as unlocked. More devices to be added

Google has plans to add more devices to the list in the coming weeks and months. There will be additional types of devices to be recommended like “rugged” devices. Take the devices by mobile carriers, enterprise mobility management (EMM) providers and systems integrators.
