Huawei Pakistan, in collaboration with Airlink Communication as its distribution partner, launched Huawei Y9 2018 during a bloggers meetup at Lahore. The device comes in the recently announced Y-series as a lower mid-range smartphone whereas the entry-level Y7 Prime 2018 has already been launched in the country.
Huawei Y9 2018 is suggested to target youth while providing a interesting four camera setup at its price range. The phone also carries the recently popular widescreen or full-view display along with long-lasting battery coupled with EMUI 8.0.
Normally Huawei itself launch the devices in a big or small events or media/bloggers meetups, like this one. However, this time they also partnered with their distribution network in the country – Airlink Communication, to launch Huawei Y9 2018. They both have a long-termed relationship and both of them believe to carry on with this distribution agreement in future.
The Huawei Y9 2018 features a 5.93-inch FullView display with FHD+ resolution of 2160×1080. The display is covered with 2.5D curved glass panel. The phone features HiSilicon Kirin 659 SoC with Octa core CPU coupled with 3GB RAM and 32GB internal storage. It doesn’t have a hybrid SIM slot but three-card slot design that you can use two nano SIM cards along with a micro SD card at once.
The Huawei Y9 2018 features a rear dual-camera setup with a 13-megapixel and a 2-megapixel camera. In fact, the phone also has similar dual-cam setup on the front as well, that is 16MP and 2MP. The camera is powered by proprietary HiSilicon ISP that enables the phone to take vibrant and faster photographs. In addition, the front 16MP camera has four lenses design while the rear the rear 13MP camera has five of them. The rear camera feature PDAF sensor that focuses at 0.3 seconds.
The new phone is equipped with a large 4,000 mAh battery that is claimed to provide 1.7 days of typical usage. The Y9 2018 runs Android 8.0 Oreo operating system with EMUI 8.0 skin on top of it. It integrates with F2FS 2.0 and iAware 2.0 for more superior performance.
Additional features include Dual Bluetooth Connection (supporting simultaneous connection of two Bluetooth devices), Face Unlock which is powered by AI facial recognition algorithms and can detect 1,024 facial feature points of a human face. The phone also features the fourth generation Fingerprint scanner from the company, which can unlock the device within 0.3s.
Interestingly for music lovers and wanna-be singers, Huawei Y9 2018 features a Karaoke Mode. When you plug earphones into the phone and open a karaoke or live streaming app, the phone will prompt you to activate the Karaoke Mode.
Available in two colors – black and blue, the Huawei Y9 2018 costs PKR 26,499/- and will be available from May 5th exclusively through Airlink Communication with 1 year warranty. The pre-booking of the smartphone has already been started earlier this week and it will remain open till the weekend. The customers who pre-booked the smartphone will get cash voucher worth PKR 1,000/-.

Seems like Huawei is shipping varied features in the Mate 10 lite outfit. First we thought Y7 Prime 2018 is like that but now the Y9 2018 also comes along.
